PRIVATE ASSOCIATION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL
 |
The Most Rev. W. Thomas Larkin, D.D., first recognized the Marian Servants of Divine Providence® as a private Catholic Lay Association of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida on November 24, 1987. On August 5, 1997, Bishop Robert Lynch of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, decreed that the Marian Servants of Divine Providence® be recognized as a PRIVATE ASSOCIATION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITHFUL. (See Code of Canon Law, Canon 322.) |

|
Among other things, this change in canonical status allows us to offer membership to priests and religious. On our Commitment Day, December 8, 1997, the first priest joined the Marian Servants.
The present membership of the Marian Servants of Divine Providence® consists of 126 members: 27 Lifetime, 63 Full, 11 Associate, 14 candidates in formation, and 11 inquirers. Included in the membership are 30 people living outside the Clearwater, Florida area who are members of this mother community. |

|
Levels of Membership
The membership of the association consists of four levels of commitment:
Candidate/Year of Formation
Associate Member
Full Member
Lifetime Member |
|
The Day of Commitment for each level of membership is held on or near the Feast of the Immaculate Conception December 8th of each year.
The Certificates and medals presented by the Bishop of the Diocese of St. Petersburg are the outward signs of the promises made by the Marian Servants to abide by the Rule of Life of the Marian Servants for a period of one year.
This Association is the foundation and unifying force for all the Ministries gathered under the mantle of Our Lady of Divine Providence. |
